Today we are delighted to launch a new section of Raremood: Leisure.
We have traveled the world to uncover—and personally experience as mystery guests—rare and special places where one can enjoy truly unique stays. Places that get under your skin the moment you enter them. They don’t overwhelm you with fanfare; they whisper to you, embrace you, and change you just a little.
The first of these is undoubtedly Terra – The Magic Place, one of our absolute favorites.
We are in South Tyrol, in the Sarentino Valley, over 1,600 meters above sea level. A genuine, rugged, and authentic valley, worlds away from the polished postcard images.
Here, brother and sister Heinrich and Gisela Schneider have built their own small universe—he at the stove, she in the dining room. Two different spirits, united by the same vision: a profound respect for the surrounding nature and the desire to tell its story, plate after plate, gesture after gesture.
Don’t expect opulence—but you will find an exquisite sense of taste in every detail. Terra is essential, intimate, and perfectly attuned to the breathtaking beauty around it. The rooms are few and cozy, clad in local wood and fabrics that seem to breathe. Four-legged friends are welcomed naturally, as true guests (a must for us).
And the cuisine? It’s not just Michelin-starred (with two stars and a Green Star for sustainability); it’s deeply sincere. Heinrich doesn’t chase after special effects—though you’ll certainly find them. Instead, he works through subtraction, allowing you to taste the mountain, the forest, the wind. His exquisitely crafted dishes seem born from the very landscape you wake up to each morning.
Every experience here is designed for those who know how to slow down, observe, and listen. For those who understand that true luxury today is being in a place where the essential has been chosen with love.
This is why we chose Terra to inaugurate the Leisure section of Raremood. Not because it’s fashionable, not because it’s easy to describe—but because it’s rare. And what is rare must be cherished and shared only with those who truly understand its value.
If you are looking for a place where the superfluous fades away and only the essential remains, remember this name. But keep it to yourself—and perhaps to a few carefully chosen friends. Some magic is preserved precisely by sharing it only with those who can truly appreciate it.
Terra is not for those in a hurry. It’s for those who want to remember, for one suspended moment, that there are still places capable of reconnecting us to the world—and to ourselves.
