Ingrid Monchy is the creator and designer behind the “coloring activity kits” designed for children, teenagers, and adults. These kits allow individuals to create by coloring, cutting, folding, and gluing. The “POP UP coloring pages” are created in Montreuil (93) and manufactured in the Ile de France region near Paris, specifically in Seine-Saint-Denis at La Courneuve (93), in small quantities ranging from 50 to 400 copies. The emphasis is on locally sourced production, favoring a short supply chain. The complete collection now consists of 16 different themes.
The story behind these coloring kits is as follows:
In early June 2018, the first 7 notebooks in the collection were printed.
In September 2018, the collection expanded with coloring related to the work of MIRO, authorized by the MIRO Estate. These were sold during the MIRO exhibition at the Grand Palais.
Internationally, in mid-November 2018, the “CHINESE NEW YEAR” pop-up coloring kit, in response to a request from La T-Galleria DFS of Macau’s City of Dreams, entered the market.
These pop-up coloring pages were also available for purchase at the Musée des Beaux Arts de Québec during the J.MIRO exhibition.
More recently, in August 2022, they were sold by Bahcadvisory at China Craft Week and at the 16th Hangzhou Cultural & Creative Industry Exhibition in early January 2023.
Lastly, in November 2023, during the 17th Hangzhou Cultural & Creative Industry Expo, Ingrid Monchy was invited to showcase the POP UP coloring collection. A massive pop-up measuring 2.50 meters high and 3.50 meters wide was created for the exhibition stand.
Why it is in The Green Circle
Ingrid Monchy is primarily a poet, before being an artist. Sustainability has a cultural, historical, and poetic aspect that is often forgotten. The works of Mes Coloriages should be introduced into every home and school for their power to recover and evoke the cultural and territorial roots of each of us. Anthropogenic sustainability (related to the deep experience of people’s well-being) and territorial sustainability (linked to environmental protection) merge in these works, which express, through a simple and humble medium like paper, the recovery of the best imagination of each individual, one that, if nurtured daily, informs every action of daily life towards serenity, and thus respect for the environment and all people.
