Artistic ceramics dedicated to the theme of drought. These ceramic pieces, shaped in dark stoneware, are coated with crumbled ceramic material. Their forms are reminiscent of classical containers, such as amphorae and kraters, reimagined in a contemporary style. In this case, they are unusable containers, as they bear cuts made “raw” that, after firing, no longer align or fit together. The cracks are filled with iron wire, a clumsy attempt to stitch together what has been severed.
Like the parched, lifeless earth, these broken vessels are unable to hold water. “We will not find a way to reconstruct the delicate and complex ecosystems we devastate. The lack of water will render the land we live on not a bustling cradle of life, but a space unfit for existence.”
