At Gaston Luga, everything we do is painted with an aesthetic touch. Bridging the gap between form and function, our designs are made to become your everyday essentials. Each timeless piece is consciously crafted with the urban environment in mind. Bags are simple in nature, but complex when mastered. For us, the creative process always starts with the material. We work meticulously to find the best mix of functionality, durability and aesthetics, while not compromising on sustainability. As material science continues to develop at a rapid pace, we aim to always be ahead of the curve.
Our products are tested for waterproofing via Intertek’s first-class laboratory facilities, as well as abrasion and colour fastness to ensure longevity. They are also PETA-Approved Vegan. Since day one, we have strived for a better planet. To achieve this, we have continuously refined our processes and looked to the future. For us, this is an ongoing work in progress.
To ensure that all our products are manufactured ethically, our factory is certified and inspected by the Amfori BSCI platform. We take great care in making sure that all materials used and methods of transportation have the lowest climate impact possible. To do this, we use vegan leather alternatives across all products and our packaging is made with FSC-certified paper that is printed with soy ink.
A carbon-neutral organisation since 2019, our partnership with Carbon Footprint Ltd offsets our CO2 emissions by donating to the Escarpment Environment Conservation Network (ESCONET). Our support helps fund a project to restore local forests in the Great Rift Valley, Kenya.Since the drop of our first limited edition bag, an enthusiastic community of collectors has emerged. They remain our strongest motivation in keeping our creativity alive during the development of our state-of-the-art pieces.
Why it is in The Green Circle
The production of Gaston Luga is entirely sustainable, at every stage of the manufacturing process and in every material used, indicative of a great and particular attention to the safeguarding of the planet. In addition to this, there is another significant aspect for which it was chosen by Raremood for the Green Circle: Gaston Luga makes work and travel backpacks, items intended to accompany people in many territories and during important experiences. The combination of sustainability with the theme of travel introduces the importance of the virality of sustainable thinking, which in this way can be transmitted to other travelers and people met around the world during the journey. The cultural contamination that Gaston Luga helps to facilitate is therefore fundamental for the expansion of a sustainable attitude among all the world’s populations.
