Ephèmera signs the Olfactory Logo for RareMood for Home by Isabella Goldmann.

Raremood for Home was conceived to be presented at The Green Circle, the area of MILANO HOME dedicated to sustainability and research: a tailor-made work designed to express the values of the two projects and to envelop visitors who cross the threshold of The Green Circle space in a multisensory experience that will remain imprinted in their olfactory memory.

THE FRAGRANCE
In creating the olfactory logo RAREMOOD for Home, we were guided by a fundamental principle in the world of bioarchitecture and sustainable innovation: bringing nature into the home, whether in the form of sunlight, air, color, or greenery. We included wood, representing the most sustainable and biocompatible material par excellence. Notes that evoke the significant female contribution and the role of women in architecture and sustainability could not be missing.
Finally, we added a touch of effervescent happiness that arises when one succeeds in creating a healthy, beautiful space in harmony with the environment and the well-being of people. An olfactory logo that speaks of nature and simplicity, with an elegant, discreet background and a slight persistence.
The fragrance opens with a sense of joy, happiness, and vitality thanks to the sunny and carefree notes of lemon that blend with the notes of the green gold of Calabria, bergamot, one of the most spectacular and multifaceted ingredients in the natural palette.
Also known as pink berries, pink peppercorns provide a bright, sharp, and cypress-like touch to the composition, creating a red thread that intertwines with rosewater, also known as Venus water, obtained from the processing of precious Damascus rose petals.
The “sun” that radiates and illuminates the composition is represented by Cananga flowers, yellow, fleshy, and highly fragrant. In the heart notes, you cannot escape the scent of lemon flowers, one of the most intense and vibrant fragrances. Ethereal, ancestral, elusive, capable of evoking dormant, forgotten images, memories, and sensations.
The fragrance is further enriched by the presence of iris flower, a key ingredient in many classic fragrances throughout history, capable of giving a feeling of sophistication and elegance typical of Italian savoir-faire. In the base notes, you can feel the sweetness of vanilla joining the sweet, balsamic, and deep scent of one of the most majestic and legendary woods, cedarwood, a symbol of spirituality and immortality. The olfactory composition is completed with the presence of patchouli green leaf, evoking the imagery of lush tropical nature and providing a enveloping final sensation.

Olfactory Logo Storytelling for RareMood and The Green Circle
The fragrance custom-created for RareMood and, consequently, for the “The Green Circle” space is a non-intrusive room fragrance that delicately generates a sensory atmosphere, elevating the emotional comfort level and connecting with the most emotional part of people who inhabit or visit a space. This fragrance conveys a sense of harmony and contributes to building the concept of beauty for the soul, fundamental aspects in the projects carried out by Studio Goldman & Partners Srl SB. It’s not just about decorating the environment through a scent but also about communicating messages, one’s own story and identity, and the values that underlie the professional story of architect Isabella Goldman and, at the same time, the “The Green Circle” project.
Many objects represent stories of research and passion, valuing ancient knowledge and promoting new technologies, always with deep consideration for the environment and the well-being of people.
The olfactory logo contains both synthetic and natural scent notes, with high biodegradability, low aquatic toxicity, environmental sustainability, ethics, circularity, and compliance with current cosmetic regulations. Natural scent notes consist of natural essential oils.
For this olfactory branding project, two special producers were selected. Firstly, an Italian company, a historic company that has been producing essential oils in Calabria for six generations, a member of the UNION FOR ETHICAL BIOTRADE, with production control of raw materials respectful of people and biodiversity.
The cultivations are biodynamic, fully respecting the territory and paying extreme attention to waste.
Finally, a leading French company in the cultivation and purchase of sustainable raw materials, with a strong focus on social sustainability. The essential oils and absolutes marketed are carefully selected from suppliers, ensuring compliance with important rules of good civil living, such as child labor prohibition, pesticide use, cultivation policy, etc. The company seeks to use cost-conscious products for farmers to ensure fair and just compensation. Furthermore, for some products, the company holds its own cultivations, meticulously and fully controlling the production process and costs.

The scent of lemon induces a feeling of freshness and cleanliness, helping lift spirits and imparting a sense of lightness. Symbolically, lemon represents rebirth, renewal, and purification, and is often considered a symbol of joy, happiness, and vitality. Its bright fragrance is often used to create summery and refreshing perfumes that evoke the image of sunny and carefree days.

Bergamot
The green gold of Calabria. It is one of the most spectacular and versatile ingredients in the natural palette. It is precisely on the Ionian coast of Reggio Calabria that the best quality of bergamot is born and grows (90% of the world’s production), even though it originates from tropical regions of Asia. Nowhere else in the world is there a place where this citrus fruit bears fruit with the same yield and quality of essence. The first bergamot cultivations on the Calabrian coast date back to the eighteenth century when the essence was extracted from the peel through manual pressing and absorbed by natural sponges. The bush is a natural cross between bitter orange and lemon or lime; the fruit has smooth and thin skin, mostly green in color. According to legend, on full moon nights, the bergamot would reveal the birthplace of fairies. Its fragrance is citrusy, floral, green, fresh, sparkling, and aromatic. Its significance is success and good fortune.
Blackcurrant
The olfactory note of blackcurrant is generally described as fresh, fruity, and slightly sweet. The aroma is often associated with hints of berries, with a combination of sweetness and acidity. Fragrances related to blackcurrant can present nuances of red currant and blueberry, creating a fruity and lively perfume. In some cases, it might also be described as slightly herbaceous or citrusy, depending on the combination of notes present in the fragrance.
Pink Pepper
Bright, sharp, and spicy, yet woody. Pink pepper has a spicy and peppery fragrance with typical hints of rose notes. These characteristics make it a staple in many dark and woody fragrances. A fragrant and cheerful note, it adds a delicate spiciness to fragrances, allowing floral and woody notes to shine more clearly. It is quite different from black pepper, used in perfumery to add a pinch of spiciness to the scent wherever it is used. Also known as rose berries, pink pepper berries are pink and belong to the Schinus molle bush, also known as the Peruvian pepper tree, which is not actually related to the black pepper we are all familiar with from Southeast Asia.
Rosewater
Rosewater, also known as “acqua di Venere,” is a simple and completely natural product, known for its properties since time immemorial. Grandmothers used to prepare a homemade artisanal version of it at home and used it as a natural beauty elixir, well aware of its virtues. 
Rosewater is obtained during the steam distillation process of rose damascena petals. From the actual distillation, the precious essential oil of roses is obtained, with its unmistakable soft and delicate aroma. Rosewater, on the other hand, is the result of the condensation of the steam used during the process.
In cosmetics, Damask Rose, or Rosa Damascena, is excellent for its high content of bioactive compounds. In perfumery, the theme of roses is inexhaustible. With all the variety of roses growing on Earth – there are tens of thousands of different varieties – the roses important for perfume creation can be counted on one hand. Rosa Damascena would be the main one, its official name in Latin is Rosa × damascena.
There are several stories of how the damask rose came from Damascus to Europe. According to one of them, the French crusader Robert de Brie, who participated in the siege of Damascus in 1148 during the Second Crusade, brought the rose from the capital of Syria. According to other sources, ancient Romans brought it to their colonies in England, and according to the third legend, King Henry VIII’s doctor offered the king a rose plant around 1540. Damask rose is cultivated not only for its fragrance and beauty.
Damask rose also has great culinary relevance, it is used as a spice (for example, as part of the Moroccan blend “ras el hanout”), in sweets (Turkish delights, jam, marzipan, pudding, yogurt), dried petals are prepared as tea, and even in savory meat dishes, dried rose powder or rosewater is added to enhance flavor (rose chicken is a popular Middle Eastern dish).
Lemon Flower
A true treasure in perfumery, lemon flower, one of the most fragrant citrus flowers, emits a multifaceted fragrance. It offers delicate and citrusy floral notes, as well as hints of green and fresh citrus. Ethereal, ancestral, elusive… it is impossible to resist its scent, capable of evoking dormant, forgotten images and sensations.
Yellow Cananga Flowers
With names like Ylang Ylang and Macassar, two oils extracted from the flowers of Cananga odorata, a large tree belonging to the Annonaceae family, native to the Philippines and the Moluccas Islands, it is also found in Polynesia, Melanesia, and Micronesia, and is typical of the Comoros Islands, off Madagascar.
Cananga odorata can reach heights of up to 35-40 meters, with a lush crown of large, bright green leaves that are persistent, with slender stems; its highly fragrant yellow flowers are quite conspicuous, with elongated and curled petals that grow either singly or in small clusters. It is from the flowers of Cananga odorata that both Ylang Ylang essential oil, with its intense and sensual fragrance known for its toning and aphrodisiac properties, and Macassar oil are obtained.
The difference between the two products, originating from the same source, lies in the fact that Ylang Ylang oil is more precious because it results from a first distillation that extracts about a hundred different molecules, which give the oil its distinctive characteristics, particularly its intoxicating scent, making it particularly suitable for enhancing femininity.
Macassar oil, obtained from subsequent distillations, consists of a fraction of the phyto-complex contained in the flowers of Cananga odorata, so it has a more limited chemical composition, characterized by the predominant presence of linalool, which gives the oil different properties and a less intense fragrance compared to Ylang Ylang oil.
Iris
The iris note is one of the most precious and fascinating in perfumery, known for its refinement and complexity. Iris essence is obtained from the rhizomes of Iris germanica, a plant native to Europe. The production of this essence is a laborious process that requires a lot of patience. After harvesting the rhizomes, they must undergo a process of drying, grinding, and cooking. This cooking process is essential to release the characteristic aroma of iris and transform it into essential oil.
The iris note is famous for its refinement and elegance. It has a floral, slightly powdery, and sometimes slightly rooty fragrance. Its sensation is enveloping and refined, evoking a sense of timeless calm and beauty.
Iris has been a key ingredient in many classic fragrances throughout history. Its complexity and its ability to blend well with other aromatic notes make it a valuable element in perfumery. It has been widely used in high-end perfumes and has a long history of appreciation in the art of perfumery. Iris is often symbolically associated with Florence and Italy. In the Tuscan city, the iris has been adopted as the city emblem, becoming one of the symbols of Florence. In addition to its ornamental presence in gardens, iris has also been used in perfume production, thanks to its aromatic roots. The tradition of cultivating and using iris is deeply rooted in Italian culture, contributing to its reputation as a flower of great aesthetic and symbolic value.
Cedarwood
The eternal scent of a millennial wood. Strongly aromatic, woody, dry, balsamic, and with a clean fragrance with the characteristic “pencil lead” note. The most renowned and ancient quality is that of Lebanon, where the millennia-old Cedrus libani were born. Cedarwood symbolizes eternity, greatness, power, spirituality, and immortality. It is known for its durability and longevity: it can live up to 5,000 years. For this reason, the Assyrian king used it to build his palace in Nineveh, and Solomon used it for the Temple of Jerusalem. Even the Old Testament was inscribed on cedarwood for its gentle fragrance and the symbols of strength and greatness that characterize it.
Vanilla
Vanilla was discovered in the “Land of the Shining Moon” by the nomadic Aztec population. The only variety of orchid, among the 30,000 known species, to produce an edible pod with an irresistible fragrance, was born from a divine love story in the Mexican tropical forests.
Vanilla is one of the most intoxicating essences that nature can offer us, with a thousand facets. A fragrance with the characteristic scent of natural vanilla, sensual, captivating, sweet, warm, woody, spicy, and oriental.
Patchouli
Patchouli is an olfactory note characterized by a rich and earthy fragrance, derived from the leaves of the tropical plant of the same name (Pogostemon cablin). This note is often associated with woody and oriental fragrances, contributing with its depth and persistence. Patchouli offers an earthy and woody base with sweet and musky undertones. Its presence in a fragrant composition can provide a feeling of warmth and envelopment.
